Summary of Position:
The HVAC Technician is responsible for the proper maintenance of the heating, air conditioning, and ventilation systems on Milton Academy’s campus. The individual in this position must work collaboratively with the Facilities Services team and have a customer service orientation to working with students, faculty, and staff.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Assists in the repair and proper upkeep of all building systems and physical components within all academic, administrative, athletic and residential properties at Milton Academy.
- Performs Operations & Maintenance (O&M) inspections for both electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Performs regular maintenance on equipment to ensure continuing operation, including the replacement of filters per recommended schedules.
- Uses experience and technical skills in preventive maintenance and system operations to determine service requirements.Ensures sufficient filters and other supplies for maintenance and repair are on hand.Ensures sufficient filters and other supplies for maintenance and repair are on hand.
- Responds to HVAC-related work orders; evaluates complex alarms and develops plans to address the issues, engaging managers as needed.
- Manages system performance and settings via the building automation system; the senior technician is responsible for writing schedules, running reports, evaluating performance based on available data, and identifying problematic circumstances.
- Manages vendors to ensure regular upkeep and compliance; serves as the main point of contact for regulatory agencies.
- Collaborates with contractors who help maintain, improve, or replace systems on campus; ensures that information on systems is available, documented and transferred at project closeout.
- Ensures all major systems are inventoried and any long-term issues are documented. Creates and regularly reviews preventative maintenance schedules for each piece of equipment within the preventative maintenance system to ensure that all equipment and schedules are created. Makes recommendations for replacement.
- Supports and assists other trades and performs tasks as needed.
- Supports and assists other areas of Facilities Services, including snow removal, special events, function set-up, and special projects.
