This summer, Milton made a number of important physical improvements to the campus’ buildings and grounds aiming to provide new and updated learning spaces, revitalize student houses and academic buildings, and enhance pedestrian safety.
These projects include:
- New Farokhzad Mathematics Center (FMC)—A creative reuse of existing space — the former location of the school’s library — which serves as Milton’s new home for math, providing a variety of new classrooms, break out spaces, an assembly space, and other resources. This project became possible through a generous gift from Milton parents Shadi and Omid Farokhzad P’23, ’25, who cited how Milton has had a profound impact on their children’s lives since they first enrolled in the Lower School. Their support, combined with that of a number of other generous donors, helped bring this important project to fruition. Careful planning by the school, coupled with support from members of our Milton community, allows Milton to address its most pressing campus needs.
- Ware Loop—Reimagination and replacement of Ware Hall’s entry plaza, traffic loop, and surrounding walkways, aiming to improve safety, traffic, ADA accessibility, and aesthetics in the south quad and connecting to the FMC. New blinking lights are also to be installed shortly at the Ware-to-Schwarz Student Center crossing
- New Classics and Modern Language Classrooms—Updates of floors three through five in Ware Hall for Classics and Modern Language Department classrooms and offices
- King Theatre Improvements—Upgrades to the lighting and rigging system within King Theatre, the campus’ performing arts hub
- Lower School Air Conditioning—Air conditioning added to the Junior Building and the west wing of the Greenleaf Building (ahead of schedule). Fundraising continues to support completion of the project in Greenleaf
- Additional Assembly Space—Restoration of Ware’s Goodwin Room to serve as an assembly space during and after school
- Student Houses—Variety of exterior and interior updates, including furniture, in multiple student houses
- Straus Library—Roof and facade restoration
- Wigglesworth Hall—Column replacements
- Electric Vehicle Charging Stations—Added in Pritzker Science Center parking lot, adding to those in the facilities lot; these spots are available to all community members, including students
