Reporting to the Chief Financial and Operating Officer and working in concert with other School leaders and the Board of Trustees, the Controller will embrace and support Milton Academy’s goals through the astute stewardship of financial resources of this distinctive school. The Controller will oversee the School’s business office operations, general accounting, endowment accounting, cash/treasury functions, budget planning, and will attend and support four Committees of the Board (Audit & Risk, Budget & Finance, Buildings & Grounds and Investment).
The ideal candidate will bring an accounting background and expertise gained through increasingly responsible roles in comparably complex not-for-profit and academic settings. Other experience will ideally include business operations, endowment management, financial reporting and analysis, budget oversight and planning, and financial and IT system modernization.
Experience in education, either at the secondary school level or in higher education, would be a distinct asset. The successful candidate will be an approachable colleague, with the integrity, warmth, and openness to learning that are consistent with Milton’s values. A master’s degree in accounting, business, or finance is preferred.
