Massachusetts, to conduct a national search for a Director of Development. Established in 1798,
Milton Academy is an independent, co-educational boarding and day school, serving 1,000
students K–12, on a 125-acre campus eight miles south of Boston. K–8 at Milton Academy
includes approximately 300 students; the Upper School (grades 9–12) includes approximately
700 students. Approximately 50 percent of Upper School students are boarding students and
thirteen percent are international students. Students from 31 states and 25 countries attend the
Upper School. Milton Academy faculty, 140 in the Upper School and 43 in the Lower and Middle
schools, work closely with students and support extraordinary personal growth. Milton provides a

The Office of Development and Alumni Relations at Milton Academy seeks an experienced,
strategic, pro-active, flexible, results-oriented development professional to serve as Director of
Development. The new hire will work closely with the Chief Advancement Officer, Leadership
and Annual Giving Officers, Director of Planned Giving, the Head of School, high level
volunteers including trustees, and other members of the development team. We seek an engaging
and dynamic leader who will embrace the mission of the School, represent Milton‘s values to all
constituencies and work closely and effectively with the Chief Advancement Officer in raising

campaign and reinvigorating an aspirational program by playing a key role in our next set of
strategic ambitions. The primary responsibilities of this high visibility hire include strategic
planning support, disciplined organization and implementation of all initiatives that are part of a
comprehensive leadership/annual and planned gifts program, front-line major gift fundraising
with high-level solicitations, and effective leadership and management of staff. The new hire will
be a true ‘player/coach‘ who will be responsible for a select portfolio of 75 prospects with the
potential to give gifts of $100,000 to $1,000,000 (or more) along with managing, leading and
